Unplanned Pregnancy?
If you or someone you know is experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, please contact Fr. Will or Jeremy.  We have connections to and resources that can help.  We are available for counseling and prayer in this difficult time.  Do not be afraid to come forward and ask for help.

Are You Getting Married?
The Catholic Church requires six months of preparation prior to your reception of the sacrament.  Here at St. Mary’s we offer preparation to any engaged parishioner even if you are not getting married here.  Our preparation program involves an initial meeting with Fr. Will,  the FOCCUS inventory and discussion with Sponsor Couple, Natural Family Planning classes, Theology of the Body lecture series and discussion, one day retreat (April 12), and a final meeting with Fr. Will.  The combined cost for the preparation program is $75, which does not include the NFP class manual.  Please contact us as soon as you are engaged to begin this process.

Raise Funds for St. Mary's - Use GoodSearch.com
There is a new and easy way to raise money for St. Mary's just by searching the Internet with GoodSearch.com.  It's simple.  You use GoodSearch.com like any other search engine--the site is powered by Yahoo!--but each time you do, money is generated for St. Mary's.  (Just 2 searches a day by 100 users would net us $730 at the end of a year.)  We hope that you'll use GoodSearch as your main search engine, and that you'll ask friends and family to do the same.  The more people who use GoodSearch.com, the more St. Mary's will benefit.  To make GoodSearch your Homepage, go to www.GoodSearch.com and choose the option at the bottom.  For FAQs, go to www. goodsearch.com/About.aspx.

The Jeffrey Donner Memorial Campus Ministry Fund
Fr. Jeffrey Donner passed away suddenly on March 4, 2006.  He was our pastor for ten years before transferring to Sacred Heart, Gladwin, in July 04 2005.  In his honor, we have created the Jeffrey Donner Memorial Campus Ministry Fund, proceeds from which will benefit St. Mary University Parish student programs.

Donations may be sent to
St. Mary University Parish/Donner Memorial Fund

Mt. Pleasant, MI  48858

Mother Teresa Endowment Fund
This fund was started by the Diocese of Saginaw to support women who are pregnant, but due to limited financial resources may feel that abortion is their only option.  The fund offers them financial assistance necessary for them to choose life.

Some expenses that will be considered for payment from the fund include: prenatal clinic costs, temporary assistance with utility costs, maternity clothes, hospital and birthing costs not covered by insurance, and other expenses incurred while the mother is not able to work.  Those in need of assistance will be asked to fill out an application for review by a committee.

Donation envelopes for this fund are available at our main entrances.

Victim Assistance Coordinator
If you are a victim of clergy abuse or know of someone who is a victim, please contact Janet Fulgenzi (989-797-6682), victim assistance coordinator for the Saginaw Diocese.  If you have reasonable cause to suspect a young person is being presently abused or neglected, contact the Family Independence Agency of the appropriate county.

Rachel's Vineyard
Rachel's Vineyard weekend retreats are a beautiful opportunity for any person who has struggles with the emotional and spiritual pain of an abortion.  The retreat is a very special process designed to help you experience the mercy and compassion of God.  It offers many exercises to help you grieve the loss of your child and concludes with a memorial service

The retreat and registration are strictly private.  All inquiries will be answered confidentially.  Retreats are offered periodically in Michigan.  For more information visit the national website: www.rachelsvineyard.org or call 1-800-453-2081, ext. 652.

If you or someone you know is hurting from an abortion or miscarriage, please call the national toll-free hotline: 1-800-467-3463.

    Pastoral Scripture Reflection

This week:  Jeremy J. Priest, Pastoral Associate and Campus Minister

    Receive the Holy Spirit

Jesus "breathed on them and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit.  Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.'"

On this day of Pentecost we celebrate Jesus' gift of the Holy Spirit to us.  The Holy Spirit is the very life of the Church, the soul of the Church.

The Holy Spirit fills our souls with the gifts of Faith, Hope, and Charity in the Sacrament of Baptism.  The Holy Spirit's seven-fold gifts are given to us in the Sacrament of Confirmation.  The Holy Spirit is called down upon the gifts of bread and wine to transform them into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.  The Holy Spirit restores the gift of Charity to our hearts and cleanses us of sin in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  The Holy Spirit gives couples the gifts to be images of Christ and his Church in Holy Matrimony.  The Holy Spirit cleanses our hearts from sin to combat illness and unite us to Christ.  And finally, the Holy Spirit is given to men in Holy Orders that they might be configured to Jesus Christ and to be instruments of the Holy Spirit in the Church.

We are blessed in so many ways with the Holy Spirit's life.  He animates our hearts with the life of the Holy Trinity.

    Priesthood

I'd like to invite you to come to Holy Spirit Parish in Shields, MI to witness an amazing action of the Holy Spirit on Friday.  This Friday, through the imposition of hands and the gift of the Holy Spirit Deacon Denis Heames and three of his classmates will be ordained priests of Jesus Christ.

This gift of the ministerial priesthood is a tremendous gift to the church in the Diocese of Saginaw.  The ordination of new priests is like a new creation in our midst – God is doing a new thing, bringing new life to us in the Church.  This gift of the ministerial priesthood "configures the man ordained to the Person of Christ the Head and Bridegroom of the Church in such a way that he is able to stand in the Person of Christ and act in his name for the welfare of the whole Church."  This gift is not just given to these men for themselves, but so that they might be pastors to us, shepherds to us…that they might help us to follow Jesus more closely.

Please thank God today for the gift of the Holy Spirit in your life and in the life of the Church: Blessed be God Forever!
