An Hour With the Lord

Start: 30 Nov 2009 9:00 pm

Daily Mass is in the small chapel in the church, behind the big white wall.  The daily Mass usually lasts about 35 minutes and is a great way to end your day or begin a night of homework.  A lot of folks come early to pray and stay afterward to hang out in the lounge.  Come and see why we averaged about 40 students for daily Mass last Spring semester!

Fr. Will hears confessions 30 minutes before every Mass.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father...No one has ever seen God; the only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made him known.  -John 1:14, 18

Several priests will join us for our upcoming Advent Penance service.  The priests will hear confessions after a brief liturgy of the Word.  Advent is a "penitential season" that helps us to turn all the more towards the Lord.  Christians convert to Jesus throughout the whole of their lives.  The journey of conversion involves a vigilance on our part to become more and more aware of how we allow created things or our weakened hearts to distract us from following the path of Jesus.  Confession, preceded by a thorough examination of conscience, softens our hearts preparing us to receive Jesus fruitfully in the Holy Eucharist and at Christmas.  Repentance is a joyful event.  Anytime we are moving towards the Lord there should be joy.  We should not be afraid to give our hearts to the Lord in this wonderful sacrament of joy and new life.   You can find a helpful "Examination of Conscience" preparation card at both main entrances to the Church.

Start: 2 Dec 2009 7:30 pm

The Cor Jesu, "Heart of Jesus," Bible study will meet at the parish lounge at 7:30 pm until 8:30 pm to read the Sunday Scripture Readings, pray, and discuss.  All are welcome!  Bring a Bible and if you don't have one we'll get you one.

Start: 2 Dec 2009 8:20 pm
