Fall Service Trip

Many thanks to all who attended or made possible the Fall Service trip to Detroit and Ann Arbor.

We were blessed to see and experience all kinds of service: prayer and education from the Dominicans; care for the needy and religious instruction in Fr. Solanus Casey (short biography here); feeding the hungry and comforting the lonely at the Homeless BBQ; and service in parish and family life!  All these experiences with service were meant to draw us deeper into the life of service that is lived in the daily life of a Christian disciple: to see how and experience how service is integrated into daily life.  Thanks to all who made it possible:

Thanks especially to the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist in Ann Arbor for hosting us on Friday night for Evening Prayer, dinner, Recreation, and then Saturday morning for Morning Prayer, Mass, and breakfast.  Thanks to the Solanus Casey Center for opening its doors to us in Detroit on the weekend of St. Francis' feastday!  We had such a great time at the Homeless BBQ in Detroit: thanks to those who helped put it together, especially Krista Bajoka and Anny Klesko from the Archdiocese of Detroit's Youth and Young Adult Office who inspired the idea of us going.  Thanks to Sacred Heart Major Seminary (especially our the CMU seminarians: Brad Sjoquist and Matthew Hood) for giving us a tour and welcoming us for Evening Prayer on Saturday night.  We spent Saturday night at the Jaczkowski family home, North of Detroit.  Many thanks to the Jaczkowski family for providing dinner and a great example of Christian service in the home as they opened their home to us.  We went to St. Hyacinth's Parish in Detroit for Sunday Mass.  Many thanks to the community there for giving us a tour and hosting us for their Bananna Festival - incredible Polish food: Dziękuję! (thank you!)
